Cheap Longboards from Sector 9, Loaded and More!
So you’re looking for a longboard but don’t want to spend too much money. Well the best way to keep it cheap is to buy a customizable longboard. This way you can get some components that aren’t too high end. One big thing to keep in mind are the trucks. The truck is something you don’t want to be too cheap about as they are what allow the board to turn and manuver so well. Very cheap longboard trucks just don’t perform that great. It is well worth the extra $10 to upgrade to a good higher end truck. You can always get a cheaper wheel and bearing that still performs great.
An amazing set up for a beginner would be pretty much any sector 9, or arbor longboard set up with some gullwing mission or gullwing charger trucks and some simple rush abec 5 bearings. Rush abec 5 bearings are some of the best abec 5 bearings available and are very comparable to bones reds in my opinion. The next thing to keep in mind are the wheels, you can get a good cheap longboard wheel. Just make sure to get something in the 65-70mm size range minimum. Remember the larger wheels are going to feel a little faster and smoother but some boards don’t allow for too large of wheel. If you need help setting up your board for a cheaper price just post your question on here and I’ll help you out.
Orangatang Longboard Wheels
Longboard wheels are a hot item right now. Everyone is starting to realize the importance of a high quality urethane wheel. Orangatang is one of the new wheels companies that has bust on the scene in the past few years. They has a simple but effective line up of wheels consisting of 5 different sizes and shapes in a few different durometer ratings. The first wheels they came out with were the in-heat 75mm and 4-president 70mm wheels which are great for carving, downhill, and cruising. They have 2 great colors orange which is the 80a hardness and purple which is the 83a rating.
In the middle of this last year (2009) they came out with some freeride wheels and a new durometer of 86a that is great for long smooth slides. There are 3 styles of the freeride orangatang wheels at this point; fat free 65mm, stimulus 70mm, and durian 75mm. They are all made with either the purple 83a or yellow 86a which is a great wheel and highly recommended in yellow 86a durians for freeriders that want an all around great wheel!
Longboards
Longboards from all the top brands like sector 9, arbor, loaded, landyachtz, gravity and more!
Sector 9 has just recently updated their entire line of longboards. Some of the newest additions are the carbonite longboard which was made to perform. It is light weight and utilizes the drop through mount for a lower center of gravity. It is 41″ long and 9.25″ wide a great board for any style riding. Another new addition is the Bullet which is made for speed and downhill riding. It has an extra ply of maple for stiffness and stability. 2 other boards in their line up are the bamboo ghost tree which is a completely new shape you got to check out as well as the cosmic series deserts longboard.
Make sure to get your longboard set up the way you want it and that will best fit your needs. Every one is so different when it comes to what they want these days. If you’re a beginner you might just want something simple with a cheaper price with no need for the best components so make sure you get exactly that. If you are advanced you might want to up your game and aren’t looking for stock components anymore as you want to pass your friends, go faster, slide farther, and carve harder.
Landyachtz Spud Longboard Skateboard
Landyachtz Longboard Skateboards
The landyachtz spud longboard is a lower rider style board. With the low stance, the spud longboard skateboard has the advantage of being easy to pump and foot break, while also being super stable and maneuverable at top speed. The new shape of the spud has a W concave for added strength and comfort on your feet. The shape also comes higher creating walls or gnar bars at either end of the foot platform. The gnar bars help to lock your feet into place on longboard skateboards such as the spud. This board is excellent for commuting, cruising, carving and freeriding.

9 Plies of canadian maple

I would set it up with some bear grizzly 852′s in either black or silver as they perform great with this drop down shape. Some nice wide orangatang in-heat wheels and some bones super reds bearings.

Skinned Knees & Elbows Are Not The Bee’s Knees

Longboarding is a fun and easy sport enjoyed by many. However, it can be rather risky. Just like when you were still a kid and beginning to learn bicycling, an adult may likewise undergo one or two slight injuries prior to learning how to control and balance their longboard skateboard properly. Typical beginners may face accidents like tripping, falling, bruising, tripping, and all that. With that in mind, important safety gear is a must in engaging in this type of sport, even if it may not look the coolest. Safety gear includes a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guard. Preventive measures must come together with the thrill so as to keep away from possible harms.
A lot of people young and adult alike take pleasure in longboarding because it is exciting and fun. Overall, the sport is easy to learn and maneuver. Your major limbs and other body parts move all together making it an exceptional form of exercise. It allows you to be physically active and mentally alert in addition to improving your strength and balance.

Longboard Wheels
Ok, so you need some new wheels for your longboard. Here are a few suggestions on some of my favorite wheels out right now based on the type of riding you might want them for.
Freeriding: You definitely need to check out the new orangatang freeride wheels. They have 3 sizes 65mm (fat free), 70mm (stimulus), 75mm (durian) and they offer 2 different durometer’s at this time and 83a(purple) and 86a(yellow). These are some of the best freeriding wheels out right now and are highly recommended.
Carving: So many different options out there right now, orangatang in-heats, sector 9 74mm and 77 mm race formulas in yellow and red, and retro bigzigs and zigzags. These are my top 3 choices right now.
Cruising: Depending on the cruising surface you might want to adjust or change. A great cruiser wheel has to be the abec 11 gumball wheels. Some of the best all around wheels out and a cruisers perfect wheel.
These are just a few options if you want some advice feel free to post up a comment and I can help guide you in the right direction.
Landyachtz Dually Longboard
Symmetry helps define beauty, especially when you are talking about a longboard. The dually longboard is perfectly symmetrical with added length with a larger footplatform. It has the largest Effective Foot Platform (EFP) available from landyachtz. The gnar bars allow for a better board feel and more control than just about any other board, especially at extreme speeds when downhilling. The long wheelbase increases stability and makes it easier to throw it crook when needed and makes for a smooth flowing ride. The platform is dropped 1 3/4 inches to help improve drift and slide ability. If you are looking for something a little smaller check out it’s counter part which is called the switch.
My recommended set up for the dually is some 852 bear grizzly trucks, I would set it up with some fat hawgs monster 76mm wheels in the black which is an 84a durometer that allows the wheels to break free for a smooth slide around those crazy bends. One of my new favorite bearings has to be the bones super reds as they seem to be as fast as the swiss at nearly half the cost;) might want to check those things out!
Performance ratings from 1 to 10, 10 beings the schniz.
Pushing: 7, but really could be more like a 9
Cruising: 8
Carving: 9, but I’m going for 10
Sliding: 9
Freeride: 10
Downhill: 10
My overall grade has to be a 9.75
Landyachtz Drop Speed
Landyachtz Drop Speed Longboard
The drop speed has doulbe the concave as most longboards that allows for a huge amount of grip and helps to lock your feet into place. This board gives you so much control you’ll take your riding to a whole new level. The drop through mounts allow you to slip when you want and make for a downhillers dream. Want to take this board to a whole new level…Set it up with the new gullwing stalker trucks and you’ll be flying past all the competition.
The drop speed is constructed out of 9 plies of canadian maple which give it a very stiff stable feel, great for downhill riding. The length is 39.5 inches with a nice wide 10″ deck that gives a huge area to stand on. the wheelbse is 30.25″ long which allows you to carve with ease.
Performance ratings from a 1 to 10
Pushing: 8
Cruising: 7
Carving: 9
Sliding: 10
Freeride: 10
Downhill: 9
Personally I give the drop speed an overall 9.5 out of 10.
My dream set-up for the landyachtz drop speed:
Trucks- Gullwing Stalker
Wheels- Orangatang Durian 75mm 86a Yellow
Bearings- Bones Swiss
english story (skateboard related)
There was once a narwhal (we’ll call him “Narwhalius Maximus”) who possessed a skateboard and with that skateboard, did many great things. One day Narwhalius was skating to the marina trench contest when a dolphin (we’ll call him “Dolphinius Maximus”), who came nowhere close to Narwhalius’s absurd skill and finesse at skateboarding and Narwhalius had found him in a rage after falling and scraping his tail fin. Narwhalius was curious as to what had happened and dolphinius had told him that he was trying to 720 finflip to yacht grind to triple salchow dorsal flip out, Narwhalius sat there and snickered at Dolphinius, he couldn’t even 720 finflip to triple salchow dorsal flip out! Narwhalius had skated through the water faster than squid-o-romicus the marina trench legend, and done the 720 finflip to yacht grind to triple salchow dorsal flip out and told dolphinius how easy it was and swam off to his private submarine trailer to slumber. Dolphinius had decided if he were to win the contest that he must land this trick, Dolphinius tried the trick even until after his fins bled (this is my experience, all credit to “Chunk” Dourte) and eventually got the trick down to where it even out-finessed Narwhalius. When the contest started the next day the lazy Narwhalius had decided he could take the easy way out and win the conest with a simple finflip but was soon defeated by Dolphinius’s perfect 720 finflip to yacht grind to triple salchow dorsal flip out. Dolphinius had won the trench trophy and had won free chum for life, and everyone lived happily ever after, except Narwhalius of course, the only flipping he would do again, was burgers.
