Cheap Longboards from Sector 9, Loaded and More!
So you’re looking for a longboard but don’t want to spend too much money. Well the best way to keep it cheap is to buy a customizable longboard. This way you can get some components that aren’t too high end. One big thing to keep in mind are the trucks. The truck is something you don’t want to be too cheap about as they are what allow the board to turn and manuver so well. Very cheap longboard trucks just don’t perform that great. It is well worth the extra $10 to upgrade to a good higher end truck. You can always get a cheaper wheel and bearing that still performs great.
An amazing set up for a beginner would be pretty much any sector 9, or arbor longboard set up with some gullwing mission or gullwing charger trucks and some simple rush abec 5 bearings. Rush abec 5 bearings are some of the best abec 5 bearings available and are very comparable to bones reds in my opinion. The next thing to keep in mind are the wheels, you can get a good cheap longboard wheel. Just make sure to get something in the 65-70mm size range minimum. Remember the larger wheels are going to feel a little faster and smoother but some boards don’t allow for too large of wheel. If you need help setting up your board for a cheaper price just post your question on here and I’ll help you out.
Orangatang Longboard Wheels
Longboard wheels are a hot item right now. Everyone is starting to realize the importance of a high quality urethane wheel. Orangatang is one of the new wheels companies that has bust on the scene in the past few years. They has a simple but effective line up of wheels consisting of 5 different sizes and shapes in a few different durometer ratings. The first wheels they came out with were the in-heat 75mm and 4-president 70mm wheels which are great for carving, downhill, and cruising. They have 2 great colors orange which is the 80a hardness and purple which is the 83a rating.
In the middle of this last year (2009) they came out with some freeride wheels and a new durometer of 86a that is great for long smooth slides. There are 3 styles of the freeride orangatang wheels at this point; fat free 65mm, stimulus 70mm, and durian 75mm. They are all made with either the purple 83a or yellow 86a which is a great wheel and highly recommended in yellow 86a durians for freeriders that want an all around great wheel!

Landyachtz Spud Longboard Skateboard
Landyachtz Longboard Skateboards
The landyachtz spud longboard is a lower rider style board. With the low stance, the spud longboard skateboard has the advantage of being easy to pump and foot break, while also being super stable and maneuverable at top speed. The new shape of the spud has a W concave for added strength and comfort on your feet. The shape also comes higher creating walls or gnar bars at either end of the foot platform. The gnar bars help to lock your feet into place on longboard skateboards such as the spud. This board is excellent for commuting, cruising, carving and freeriding.
