Sector 9 is the biggest longboard producer out there and not to mention the best. Sector 9 surprisingly hasn’t been around too long I’m not sure of the exact date they were established but it wasn’t too long ago. Sector 9 started out  just like any other skate company…really small but they expanded very quickly because sector 9 were some of the first people to come up with boards that actually made skating like surfing, they’ve put more technical things into the sub divisions of skateboarding such as downhill, slalom, carving, speed racing, you name it, they’ve done it all while trying to save the environment. Here are some of sector 9′s many divisions amongst their longboards

BAMBOO SERIES: The Bamboo series is great because not only does it complete helping the environment by saving trees (bamboo is actually a weed and grows 4  feet a week!), but believe or not bamboo provides as much durability and as much flex and snap as any wood can provide. Bamboo is not only great for the environment, but it looks great too! My favorite longboard from this series is probably the haleiwa because it’s just small enough that i can pack it around wherever I need to go yet just big enough that I don’t have to try too hard to get both feet onto the board (I have fairly large feet). i do however recommend f these for cruising, downhill, and slalom

CARVING SERIES: The carving series is great because until Sector 9 there was no such thing as specialized carving boards, or specialized carving trucks. Well, thanks to Sector 9 they’ve made an entire selection of boards that were just meant to tear up the parks! All of sector 9′s carving board come with an excellent ammount of flex to help you pump into and snap out of though turns that make you feel like you’re surfing. My favorite board from the carving series is probably the Godess because it’s cheap and afforable for one. and it’s got wheel cutouts to prevent wheelbite. I recommend any of these to any carver

CLOUD 9 SERIES: The cloud 9 Series has dedicated itself to cruising and let me tell you any of these from this series makes you feel like you’re rolling on a cloud. The cloud 9 series is great because most of them are compact (except for the luke which is gargantuan), you can take them anywhere and there lightweight. The cloud series is also great if you just want to use the board for an alternative transportation such as riding the board around instead of a car. My favorite from the cloud 9 is probably the channel 9 (considering it’s the only one from this series that i’ve ridden) however when I rode this i couldn’t even feel what was under me, and the concave of the board made it feel like I was totally in control, I recommend this to any cruiser.

THE COSMIC SERIES: The cosmic series are great all-around boards whether you want to cruise or  carve at the parks. The cosmic series is great for modifing a board to you liking too, maybe when you bought it your intent was to carve at the parks, but later you decide that you want to cruise, well, it’s as simple as that you can take off your old trucks and wheels, pop out your old bearings and go buy some trucks and wheels suitable for cruising, which makes these boards great for undecided beginners. My favorite board from this series is defiantely the city crusher, I just like the idea of a small board with big wheels, I live in a town with a lot of cruddy pavement and the big wheels are just what anyone here needs to get over those nasty potholes. I recommend these for cruising and carving and from beginner to expert.

DEEP END SERIES: The deep end series is great for bowl riding or halfpipes. These are a lot more my type of skateboarding, these boards are great for the pipes and bowls, they are super stiff too to make sure they don’t break. The deep end series can also be used for flatland tricks for those of you who prefer bigger board sizes.  My favorite from this series is the angled it’s super stiff and has lots of concave for the best control possible. I recommend these for any bowl or pipe riders, from beginner to advanced.

THE MINI SERIES: The mini series is great for cruising, though I wouldn’t suggest them for much else unless you’re a daredevil. The mini series is great for urban cruising because you can carry them with you through stores, markets, or into friends houses with ease. The mini series is also good for the environment because the smaller the board the less wood is used. My favorite from this series is the Joel Tudor, because it’s small, compact, and it can tear down the streets the same as any large longboard not to mention the small wheelbase to help you make those extremely tight turns. I recommend these to any cruisers from beginner to advanced

THE PLATINUM SERIES: The platinum series was made totally for racing, downhill, and slalom and that’s just what they do. most of the platinum series have flush mount trucks with bombers to keep you low to the ground for higher speeds and bombers are very stable trucks to help prevent speed wobble. My favorite board from the platinum is The Kommi it’s super with with a flush mount to keep a lower center of gravity that helps you maintain stability at high speeds and reduce wind resistance which will send you sky rocketing down hills. I recommend the platinum series for any serious downhill riders from intermediate to advanced.

THE SIDEWINDER SERIES: Last but not least the sidewinder series are a set of boards with special trucks that help you turn on a dime, they’re amazing at cruising and carving. Just because this is the series doesn’t mean you can’t get the other series with sidewinders though, however these boards were MADE for these trucks and all of them are specially made to made sure these sharp turning trucks don’t give you wheelbite. My favorite board from this series is the off the wall 2 because of the flush mount, which i like because it helps keep a lower center of gravity which means less wind resistance and more stability.
