Sector 9 Haleiwa Longboard

This sector 9 longboard is part bamboo series part sidewinder series longboard. The Sector 9 Haleiwa bamboo longboard is one of the few boards that is a 2 part series. One of the other 2 part series boards is the Sector 9 Dawn Patrol Longboard, which is part sidewinder series, part cosmic series.

The sector 9 haleiwa brings in the bamboo wood which is great if you are trying to be environmentally friendly or if you just like the beautiful grains of the bamboo wood. The gullwing sidewinder trucks are utilized on this smaller board which has the perfect nose and tail shape to add the gullwing sidewinder trucks without the worry of wheel bite.

The haleiwa is a great board for getting around and turns on a dime. I wouldn’t recommend it to a beginner as the smaller board and sidewinder trucks are not for beginner riders when put together.

Sector 9 Laniakea Bamboo Longboard

The bamboo series longboards from sector 9 are not only great looking longboards, they’re also great when it comes to performance. Furthermore they are good for the economy as they used 100% bamboo wood which saves our trees. They also allow you to commute around town without having to drive and poplute the air and the less we drive the lower the gas prices will go.

The sector 9 laniakea bamboo longboard is a hybrid skateboard. It has a great shape for cruising around town but the tail allows you to ride this board in skate parks or just about anywhere you would want to. The laniakea is just over 3 feet long and is fully plied with bamboo wood. The board has a moderately stiff deck which in times tends to get a little softer due to the bamboo wood. It has a shorter wheelbase which allows for quick snappy turns. Just remember the shape of the Sector 9 Laniakea longboard isn’t meant for hard carving turns and if you want some giant wheels on this board you are going to need some large riser pads to lift the board enough to not get wheel bite.

The Sector 9 Sections Longboard is a unique style board with a top and bottom graphic. It is the only one like this that sector 9 offers. The deck is spongy and flexible and carves hard and fast. This Sector 9 longboard makes you feel like you’re riding a hard charging wave. The convex shape of the Sector 9 Sections longboard gives will allow for lots of speed out of the turns and is a great board to pair up with the gullwing sidewinder trucks for maximum turning and speed. It will turn a normally boring flat ground into full-on stoke-fest territory. The medium sized deck and perfect sized width also provides a forgiving ride for beginners. A minor kick tail lets you lift the front truck and jam quick kick turns in tight spots. This sector 9 cosmic series is my favorite in the series by far!

The design philosophy of loaded is simple,  they want to engineer the longboard so that the decks and trucks interact to create a synergistic carving system. Loaded therefore design the boards around the trucks. It’s a great time for skateboard design with all kinds of cool trucks being developed, and we intend to build decks around all the ones that we enjoy riding.

Loaded Longboards current skate deck lineup, our construction combines the best of snowboard materials technology and skateboard inspired design: Concave and convex cambers, a vertically laminated Bamboo core, triaxle fiberglass, and a functional and symmetrical shape combine to achieve lively composite boards designed to skate bigger hills with enhanced control. Form follows function, and while we hope you’ll find them attractive, these boards are designed to ride.

Most of you probably are familiar with the carbon trylam longboard from Sector 9. It’s a mix of maple, carbon fiber, and fiber-glass that creates a high performing, super flexy smooth riding longboard. After several years on the market they dtr3_redecided to make an update to this popular Sector 9 longboard in spring 2009. It is now known as the Sector 9 carbon tr3 longboard. This board will be replacing the long lived carbon trylam longboard, but don’t worry if you’re a huge fan of the older version as it is litterally the same board pressed from the same mold. They just revamped the name and gave it a cool new graphic.

A few specifications of the board. The Sector 9 Carbon TR3 longboard deck is constructed with 4 plies of maple, sandwiched between layers of Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass and dipped in the sauce of the day. This board is super light, perfectly snappy and great for all around carving, giant slalom style riding and everything in between. Deck 38.0″”L x 9.0″W x 29.0″WB

Sector 9 9-star longboard

The newest longboards from sector 9 have hit the market just a few days ago. One of the new boards you should be sure to check out is the Sector 9 9-star top mount longboard. This longboard is one of the best performance boards avaliable from Sector 9. It is very similar to the Sector 9 Sunset longboard except it is a few inches shorter so it will turn just a little sharper and faster. It is also stiffer as it is made from rock hard maple. This is the #1 recommended board by us right now.

This deck pairs of great with the gullwing charger trucks and a good slalom style wheel from 69mm-75mm in size. I would recommend a fully ceramic bearing with this longboard to maximize your high speeds. The shape of this sector 9 longboard allows for super hard charging down hill style riding with it’s low center of gravity and narrow nose and tail.

Longboard Decks: Sector 9, Loaded, Sector Nine

Just looking for the deck only? If you already have longboard wheels, longboard trucks, and bearings how do you find the correct longboard deck?

There are a lot of different styles of longboard decks on the market to choose from. The best one for you depends on several things. Some of the most popular longboards brands are loaded longboards, sector 9 longboards, and arbor longboards. These are all great brands of longboards and they all have their own styles and different features.

The longboard trucks…Well there are several styles of longboard trucks. One style of longboard trucks are a standard skateboard longboard trucks such as the gullwing mission longboard trucks. These trucks are good for 2 styles of longboarding. This style of longboard truck is great for just cruising around town or campus getting from one place to the other. They are also great for the hybrid style longboard deck for the longboarder that also wants to be able to do tricks or rip it up in the skate park. They can really go on just about any style deck but I would recommend something from the Sector 9 Cloud Nine series such as the Sector 9 Channel 9 Longboard deck.

Another style of longboard trucks is a downhill style longboard truck, such as the gullwing charger, or Randall R-II longboard trucks. This style truck is great for exactly what it emphasizes, downhill riding. The reverse style kingpin allows for a more even weight distribution on the board will flying down hills at high speeds without getting speed wobbles. They also have a much different turning radius which allows you to carve a lot harder and smoother than a standard style truck. This style truck is great on a board such as the loaded dervish longboard, the loaded vanguard bamboo longboard or a board from the sector 9 platinum series longboards such as the sector 9 hills longboard.

More information will be avaliable on this topic soon! So be sure to check back.
