Electric Visual Sunglasses
The Electric Sunglasses company is located in Southern California. Electric Sunglasses are all made in Italy just like similar companies Von Zipper and Spy Sunglasses. Electric Sunglasses really became popular when Bam Margera started wearing them on his popular MTV show. Bam has the very popular Electric BSG Sunglasses style for his pro-model sunglasses. In late 2008 Electric came out with a new Bam pro-model called the Electric BSG II Sunglasses. The BSG II is very similar to the BSG model however it is a one piece lens and the frame is a bit larger. Electric Sunglasses are very high quality and truly one of my favorite companies in the Skate/Snow industries. Make sure to support Electric Sunglasses as the company is one of the best out there.

Newest Release of Arbor Longboards
The newest version of the Arbor Koa Pin Longboard was just released and is on the market. This is a great carving style longboard. This Arbor longboard is a pintail shape with a long wheel base which creates smooth carving turns while at the same time it has a good amount of stiffness so the longboard is really responsive to what your feet are wanting to do. This is also a great choice for any beginner riders out there that aren’t sure of what board to get. It’s a very smooth riding board with a large deck for easy balance. Also it has a top layer of hawaiian koa wood which is unique to Arbor alone. If you want something different then what everyone else has it’s a great choice.
The recommended set up for this board would be gullwing chargers or paris 180mm trucks. I would recommend the trucks in the black color as they will really set off the graphic on the bottom of the board which is red and black. Any wheel from 65mm-72mm would fit the board perfectly. A good set of bearings for this board would be rush abec 7 bearings. So if you are unsure of what board to get as a beginner. Just get this board and set up how we recommended and you wont be disappointed.
New Graphic on the Arbor Cross Step Longboard
The arbor cross step longboard is the newest in the arbor longboard line up. It has an awesome look on the top with 2 types of wood woven together to create a unique look. The cross step is a dancer style long board hence the name cross step. It is also a great board for cruising around as this longboard is super sturdy and the length and wheels make for a very fast ride. The board usually comes equipped with revenge trucks but sometimes comes with gullwing charger trucks. The arbor cross step longboard is a great longboard especially for beginner riders.
Highly Popular Bamboo Longboards
Bamboo Longboards are becoming more popular among longboarders. The bamboo wood is a great material to use for a skateboard as it grows really fast and is quite durable and has a good amount of flex in it that allows you to pump out of turns for more speed.
Sector 9 has an entire series of bamboo longboards of all different sizes and styles. The sector 9 bamboo longboards are some of the most popular in the sector 9 longboard line-up. They have around 10 different bamboo boards to choose from. A few of my favorites are the newst which is the Bamboo Sunset Longboard. This board is great for down hill riding and racing. Another of my favorites is the Haleiwa Bamboo Sidewinder style longboard. It is unique as it is the only sidewinder style longboard from Sector 9.
Arbor also has a good selection of bamboo longboards. For the most part arbor makes a bamboo grain top layer and also a koa wood top layer for each board in their series except for a select few. Some of my favorite bamboo arbor boards are the pintail, hybrid, and bug styles. The hybrid style is just that a hybrid longboard which is partially skate/longboard style. A great all around style longboard.
Loaded Longboards are all made from 100% bamboo wood. They make 5 different styles as of now. The vanguard and dervish are the 2 most popular boards from loaded. They are both great all around boards for the serious longboarder that really wants to carve downhills and get some speed. The top mounted dervish longboard is also great for power-slides. The loaded ceviche longboard is really close in popularity and is the newest addition to the loaded line, it replaced the old style fish board. Which many may be familar with.
There are many other companies out there who also use bamboo wood in their boards these are just a small handful of the better known. If anyone knows of any other bamboo style longboards they really like let us know so we can look into it and post some info about them.
How Sector 9 Beat Arbor to the Bamboo Longboard
Arbor was one of the 1st companies to come up with the idea of making bamboo longboards. However they lagged on getting it into production and Sector 9 longboards beat them to getting them into production. These two companies are actually more closely related then most people know. They share the same warehouse in San Diego and have the same companies press a lot of their boards.
Arbor Bamboo Longboards are actually quite different than the sector 9 bamboo longboards. How is that you ask? Well arbor’s only have a top layer of bamboo wood while the rest of the board is made from hard rock maple. What this does is allow for a stiffer longboard which makes the board more responsive to you when trying to turn and makes for a good carving style board.
As far as what bamboo longboards are better, well that really depends on the rider and what they prefer. Some people prefer the longboard to be more flexible like the sector 9 bamboo longboards as it creates smoother turns when carving as the stiffer arbor bamboo longboards will make faster hard carves.

Sector 9 Waimea Longboard
The Sector 9 Waimea Bamboo Longboard is a very fast longboard. The wheels and trucks make for a super smooth ride on this sector 9. The sector 9 waimea longboard is a little shorter than the Sector 9 Pipeline and has a stylish swallow tail/fish tail and a classic shape that is reminiscent of a classic fish surfboard. The Waimea is made from 100% bamboo wood, not just a top or bottom veneer, the Sector 9 Waimea features a ‘W’ concave and mild camber to add to its strength while still allowing a nice amount of flex.
This board is best suited with the Gullwing Charger trucks which can turn sharp, and provide good stability. The waimea deck has cutouts where the wheels should hit to avoid wheel bite and let you turn super sharp. The Charger trucks also enable this board to be pumped, where you use your turning momentum to keep the speed up. Like all longboards when you get the Sector 9 waimea longboard make sure to set the trucks to your liking by either tightening or loosening the trucks. The sector 9 waimea longboard took the place of the older padang version. Save a tree, ride a weed with the Sector 9 Bamboo Longboard Series.
Arbor hits the decade mark!
The company known as Arbor Longboards made its first longboard skateboard in 1999, 10 years ago! Since the first day, the Goal of Arbor was to use environmentally friendly, natural materials to create a better made, better looking, and of course better performing longboard. Arbor was one of the first companies that has been environmentally friendly since their start. Arbor longboards are generally known for their koa wood and bamboo wood longboards.
Some of the most popular arbor longboards are from the carver series of longboards. The Arbor Pin Longboard and the Arbor Fish Longboard are probably 2 of the most popular arbor longboards today. The have both an arbor koa pin longboard and arbor bamboo pin longboard. The same goes for the fish longboard. The have an arbor bamboo fish longboard, which is one of my favorites, and probably the #1 most popular is the arbor koa fish longboard. Make sure to check out all the arbor longboards from boards on nord.
The different Styles of Sector 9 Bamboo Boards
Sector 9 Bamboo Longboard
The sector 9 bamboo longboard series is composed of 7 different bamboo longboards. It has smaller mini bamboo longboards as well has hybrid longboard skateboards, also carving style bamboo longboards, and down-hill bamboo longboards.
The smaller sector 9 bamboo longboards are the sector 9 bambino bamboo longboard and the Sector 9 haleiwa bamboo longboard which is a mini size also with the gullwing sidewinder trucks.
There are 2 styles of hybrid skateboard bamboo longboards in the series which are the sector 9 barong bamboo longboard and the sector 9 laniakea bamboo longboard.
The 2 carving style sector 9 bamboo longboards are the sector 9 waimea bamboo longboard which as the fish tail and the true carving board is the sector 9 pipeline bamboo longboard.
The ultimate down hill board in the sector 9 bamboo series of longboards is the Sector 9 Sunset bamboo longboard. The deck of this board has cut outs for top mounted trucks which allow for the board to be lower to the ground and allow for greater faster speeds when bombing down hills.
These are the sector 9 bamboo longboards in a nut-shell.
The Sidewinder Longboard Truck
The patented design of the Gullwing Sidewinder Trucks have been turning heads since they were first introduced. What makes the gullwing sidewinder trucks so special is that they have two pivot points which allows the trucks to turn twice as sharp and fast as a standard truck. This double action pivot allows the rider to generate speed using their own turning momentum. The Gullwing Sidewinder trucks are a sidewalk surfers dream. Ask anyone that has ridden them and the truth will be told.
These trucks need to be paired with the correct style board and wheels for them to function properly. The board really should have a narrow nose and tail so that the wheels sit just outside the edges of the board to prevent wheel bite. As far as the wheels go you sould make sure to pair them with a slalom type wheel which has a flat edge and allows for better traction. Any other type of wheel just doesn’t produced enough friction against the concrete and you will have a hard time controlling the board.
