Spring into Shades!
Greetings from sunny Nor-Cal! Lately we have been lucky enough to have excellent winter shredding weather and so I decided to get out on the hill for the day. While we were hanging out enjoying the sunny weather and hiking the hill I had a great idea for today’s blog: Shades.
Eye protection from the sun has existed around the globe for thousands of years, however shades haven’t always been as stylish and protective as they are today.

It is always important to protect your health while out on your board. I mean, boarding for life sounds a lot more attractive than only boarding for a few years right? While our sport has a huge emphasis on safety due mainly to the higher speeds and increased danger of permanent injury, it is easy to forget when we suit up for riding that our eyes need protection too.

Sunglasses in a Contemporary Context
In the early 1900s, the use of sunglasses started to become more widespread, especially among the pioneering stars of silent movies. It is commonly believed that this was to avoid recognition by fans, but the real reason was they often had perennially red eyes from the powerful arc lamps that were needed due to the extremely slow speed film stocks used. The stereotype persisted long after improvements in film quality and the introduction of ultraviolet filters had eliminated this problem. Inexpensive mass-produced sunglasses were introduced to America by Sam Foster in 1929. Foster found a ready market on the beaches of Atlantic City, NJ, where he began selling sunglasses under the name Foster Grant from a Woolworth on the Boardwalk.
Polarized sunglasses first became available in 1936, when Edwin H. Land began experimenting with making lenses with his patented Polaroid filter. There are many great options available today, but I prefer Von Zipper sunglasses.

Think about it this way, if you buy a pair of cheap jeans that fit ok you only wear them for a short amount of time. Instead of being cheap you pay just a little more for some jeans that you love, and they get worn for a longer period of time so you get your money’s worth. That is what the Von Zipper Trudie sunglasses are compared to the$10.00 sunglasses, you just get more “wear” out of them. Instead of wasting time and money get yourself a pair of sunglasses that will last.

I love the Von Zipper Trudie! Well we all know that Von Zipper makes great sunglasses, and they just came out with this new style called the Trudie and they are my favorite. This style of sunglasses has rounded frames that square off at the temples and they look great on square faces. If you have a square face you know how hard it is to find sunglasses that look the way you want.
The Trudie are actually not too expensive either. These glasses retail for about $70.00 and are very well made. All of Von Zipper’s sunglasses have 100% UV protection and are made from high-quality materials. I would have to say may favorite colorway in the Trudie is the white with a gradient lens. One of my favorite styles that Von Zipper has right now is the Riviera. The first thing you think of when you see these glasses is that they are very classy looking. These glasses are great for girls who want bigger sunglass look without going too big. The riviera has a rounded frame that squares off at the temples and a really elegant Von Zipper logo on the sidesof the arms.
The Von Zipper Riviera looks great on heart, square and oval face shapes. These glasses come in white, black, and tortoise. Electric Honeyrider Womens Sunglasses Review
The Electric Honeyrider is my favorite style of sunglasses. They have big square lenses with a gradient fade lens. These sunglasses have that bold oversized Hollywood look that many people are looking for in sunglasses right now. These are my go-to glasses, they seem to go with everything, including my work out clothes.
I own the Honeyrider in Gloss Black because I just love classic black when it comes to sunglasses. If you are into fun colorful sunglasses the Honeyrider also comes in Orange Sorbet, and Seafoam. The Electric Honeyrider womens sunglasses are very sturdy and well made. I have had mine for a year and they still are in perfect condition.
