Loaded pintail bamboo longboard
Loaded longboards has an assortment of every board for downhill and even have a pintail made compeltely of bamboo(all longboard companies need a pintail, and a bamboo board). The coolest thing about loaded longboards is that you can get different flexes that suit your style, so if you’re contemplating buying one I suggest finding out which flex would best suit you. The loaded pintail is also cutout so you don’t get wheelbite, not to mention the long wheelbase for more stability and smoother turns going down hills I recommend the loaded pintail to anyone looking for a true downhill board.
The loaded pintail is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however there so much other quality equipment to choose from. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9′s or orangatangs (if you have the money of course) or even abec 11′s (these are my favorite of the bunch). For trucks I recommend getting randal 150′s, gullwing chargers, or bombers. The loaded pintail also comes with abec 5 bearings that would be much better replaced with some bones reds or if you have the money some sector 9 ceramics.
Loaded Ceviche Longboard review
Loaded longboards has made another great board and we instantly had to bring it into our shop, and we are proud to the Ceviche this is one of the best when it comes to downhill and cruising. Loaded has become so involved in the whole downhill scene that they even have custom flexes to suit any downhillers preference. The loaded cevicched also has a unique kicktail and nose which makes for a more comfortable ride (in my opinion) just because I like having them, a flat board to me just doesn’t feel right.
The loaded ceviche is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however there so much other quality equipment to choose from. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9′s or orangatangs (if you have the money of course) or even abec 11′s (these are my favorite of the bunch). For trucks I recommend getting sidewinders if you’re JUST going to cruise and carve, however if you bombing hills I suggest getting randal 150′s, gullwing chargers, or bombers. The Long and Short of Longboards
Some people use the terms longboard and skateboard interchangeably, but they each have their own unique characteristics. Longboards are a variation of the traditional skateboard with a longer—and often wider—deck. This makes performing tricks on longboards virtually impossible, but the design does have its advantages.
The increased surface area of the deck offers more stability, which makes longboards ideal for high-speed riding. Loaded longboards are typically used for downhill applications and in racing. Many people employ a fluent riding pattern, zigzagging back-and-forth as with a surfboard.
Loaded Tan Tien Longboard
Built with an amalgamtic design promoting progression in the longboard world. It has a premium performance mind, the tan tien was developed to inspire new tricks and engage new styles of riding. It’s a manifestation of a loaded longboard into a new creature. The deck is designed to lock your feet in place, it utilizes the drop through truck mount and camber to allow for a nice smooth pump with a responsive nose and tail. The tan tien blends carving with free riding all into one great design. It is pre-gripped with a black tape like no other loaded boards. It has an aggressive 27″ wheelbase and is 8.75″ wide.
How to set up the tan tien:
First off your trucks, the most important component. I would set it up with a nice wide truck from 180mm in size or 10″ size in some formats like gullwing chargers. Really it comes down to preference when setting this board up. I really like the stability of gullwing charger trucks but some love the standard randal 180mm trucks. Or for those that like a loser feeling truck go with the paris 180mm trucks. As for wheels anything 70mm-75mm in size is great. I would go with durian 75mm yellow wheels but anything similar would great on this monster of a board. And yes don’t forget about the bearings. My favorite are bones bearings all the time, all the way! The best bones bearings out for the dollar has always been the reds but for this board I would recommend stepping it up to the SUPER reds as they are DUPER fast. Make sure to give the tan tien a ride if you’re looking in to getting a longboard.
Orangatang Stimulus Free Ride Wheels
The stimulus wheel was designed for freeriding, it is a mid ranged sized wheel that is great for sliding and also has the perfect amout of grip when needed. These wheels are 70mm in diameter with a 42mm contact surface patch.
Durometers: 83a purple, 86a yellow
The stimulus freeride wheels were designed with a nice wide contact surface that is great for freeriding and can even crossover to a carving wheel in most cases. However if you want a solid carving or slalom style wheel check out the in-heat or 4-president wheels. Like all the orangatang freeride wheels the surface is stone ground for a ready to ride wheel right out of the package. 70mm is the all around size for quick acceleration and enhanced control for a longboard wheel.
Orangatang Durian Longboard Wheels Review
Orangatang Longboard Wheels (Durian)
The durians were designed for freeriding, they are grippy when needed with consistent slide characteristics to allow for smooth slides unlike some of the other wheels that create a bumpy slide. The durains are a great all around wheel.
Specs:
diameter: 75mm
contact surface: 45mm
durometers: 83a purple, 86a yellow
The durians have an offset design and relatively wide contact patch for a nice solid grip (If you want more grip check out the in-heat wheels). It was designed with rounded innner and outer lips with stiff flex characteristics for clean slide initiation and smooth quite slides. The surface of the durian wheels are stone ground for to help create a consistent slide right from the start with no need to break them in. These wheels are intended to build confidence and elevate your riding caliber to the next level.
Cheap Longboards from Sector 9, Loaded and More!
So you’re looking for a longboard but don’t want to spend too much money. Well the best way to keep it cheap is to buy a customizable longboard. This way you can get some components that aren’t too high end. One big thing to keep in mind are the trucks. The truck is something you don’t want to be too cheap about as they are what allow the board to turn and manuver so well. Very cheap longboard trucks just don’t perform that great. It is well worth the extra $10 to upgrade to a good higher end truck. You can always get a cheaper wheel and bearing that still performs great.
An amazing set up for a beginner would be pretty much any sector 9, or arbor longboard set up with some gullwing mission or gullwing charger trucks and some simple rush abec 5 bearings. Rush abec 5 bearings are some of the best abec 5 bearings available and are very comparable to bones reds in my opinion. The next thing to keep in mind are the wheels, you can get a good cheap longboard wheel. Just make sure to get something in the 65-70mm size range minimum. Remember the larger wheels are going to feel a little faster and smoother but some boards don’t allow for too large of wheel. If you need help setting up your board for a cheaper price just post your question on here and I’ll help you out.
