Downhill Longboarding
Some people ride longboards at a leisurely pace, using them as a conveyance or simply as a means for a joyride. But personally, I enjoy a more extreme breed of longboarding. Unless I’m tearing down a hill at breakneck speeds, I simply don’t enjoy myself.
As you can imagine, downhill longboards feature a different construction than a traditional skateboard or longboard. With a specialized design for high speeds, the wobbles you may be accustomed to are a thing of the past. This allows you to go faster without the fear of losing your balance while shredding down the hill.
layback roper 41″ longboard review
The layback roper 41″ cheap longboard is perfect for people who enjoy going out and cruising on the streets, hitting the bike trails, ripping through the parks or even some mild downhill. the roper also has a really wide wheelbase which makes it perfect for long smooth buttery turns and those long rides from one end of town to another because it takes the harsh vibration and moves it over the entire of board instead of focusing it in one spot. I recommend the roper to anyone looking for a great all around board it’s especially good for beginners because it gives you a bunch of options.
The roper comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend buying some of our premium trucks and wheels. for trucks I recommend getting some independents or chargers. For wheels I recommend sector 9’s, abec 11’s or orangutangs or any wheel in a 60mm or higher for that matter. The roper also comes with abec 5 bearings but I highly recommend getting some reds, they’re only 10$ more and they’re the best you can get for the price unless of course you really want to rip through the streets then i suggest getting some ceramics of any kind however i personally recommend the sector 9 ceramics.
Layback Classic 36″ longboard review
The Layback Classic 36″ longboards is perfect for cruising around town, slashing ditches, and carving at the park, it’s wheelbase is a might short for anything other than that though. Another thing I really like about the Layback is it’s size, you can store it just about anywhere. The layback also has a super short wheelbase which makes it great for really tight turning and excellent response.
The layback comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend buying some of our premium trucks and wheels. for trucks I recommend getting some independents or chargers. For wheels I recommend sector 9’s, abec 11’s or orangutangs or any wheel in a 60mm or higher for that matter. The layback also comes with abec 5 bearings but I highly recommend getting some reds, they’re only 10$ more and they’re the best you can get for the price.
Sector 9 goddess longboard review
The sector 9 goddess longboard is perfect for downhill sliding, cruising, and carving. The Goddess has a shorter wheelbase then most boards of this type, making it easier to transition into and out of slides, and for sharper more precise turning at the park. The Goddess also has wheel cutouts to help prevent wheelbite on the extremely sharp turns and those laybacks on those steep hills. I recommend the goddess to anyone from amateur to expert looking for a good sliding/carving board.
The sector 9 goddess comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend customizing your board with some of our premium trucks and wheels. For trucks i recommend buying chargers or bombers if you’re going to be sliding but if you’re not then definitely get the sidewinders. For wheels I recommend getting any sector 9 wheel in a 70mm or higher. As for bearing the board comes with abec 5’s but these can wear out fast going at high speeds, so I recommend buying some reds which are only 10$ extra but make a load of difference. Sector 9 Luke longboard
The sector 9 luke longboard skateboard is…alright I’m not gonna lie, it’s MASSIVE. If you don’t want to carry a 15 pound mass of skateboard in your hand around this board isn’t for you…however, I near guarantee a girl (or guy) that sees you riding this is going to think you’re the sexiest thing on the block (don’t hold me to my word on that one). The luke however is similar to the OG cloud it’s just bigger and has a much wider wheelbase, this is by far the longest wheelbase of any board in our shop. I recommend the Luke to anyone who wants a killer ride and enjoys trips with friends and family, grab your kids, grab yourself….and plow over whatever’s in your way, this is definitely the tonka truck of skateboarding.
The luck comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I suggest customizing your boards with some of our premium products, For trucks I recommend sidewinders for anything except downhill, if you plan on doing downhill I recommend getting chargers or bombers. For wheels I recommend sector 9’s or arbors…just anything in a 70mm or higher if you have the extra money get some orangatangs or abec 11’s. The luke also comes with abec 5’s but I recommend getting reds, they’re only 10$ more and it’s worth every penny
loaded Dervish Longboard review
the loaded Dervish longboard is one of loaded’s best when it comes to downhill This was actually loaded’s first longboard I believe and has been tweaked the most since loaded came first out last year. One the geatest things about this board and any of loaded’s downhill boards is the fact that it’s cut so wheelbite is no longer a factor because eating it going 45+ MPH is not a fun scenario. Also the dervish has a flush mount for a lower center of gravity, higher stability, and sleek look to top it all off.
Now, the dervish doesn’t get it’s speed and stability from just the deck itself, it needs some quality accessories to go with it. If you have racing in mind I definitely recommend going for some gullwing bombers or chargers, however if you want to just cruise around I suggest getting some gullwing sidewinders instead. As for wheels, sector 9 puts out a really good wheel for the price, however if you really want to tear through town or down hills I recommend getting orangatang wheels . The dervish however is just a board and can’t zip through town without a good set of bearings. For bearings I recommend getting either reds, rushs, or greaseballs, but if you want a better quality for a little more money I suggest bones swiss or sector 9 ceramics.
Landyachtz Evo longboard review
The landyachtz evo longboard is perfect for tearing up hills, thrashing the park, or even just taking a a smooth cruise across town. Another great thing about the Evo is that it’s so versatile you can slap some sidewinders and make it a carver/cruiser or even put some bombers/chargers on for bombing hills, slalom, and racing. I recommend the Evo to anyone looking for a board that can do it all and then some.
The landyachtz evo is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however this board will only be a mere glimpse of what it could be without the right equipment. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9’s or abec 11’s (if you have the money of course) or even orangatangs. For trucks I suggest getting gullwing chargers, or bombers because this is mainly a downhill board however if you want a good cruiser/carver, just slap some sidewinders on there. The evo also comes with abec 5 bearings that would be much better replaced with some bones reds or if you have the money some sector 9 or bones swiss ceramics.
Landyachtz spud longboard review
The landyachtz spud longboard is almost an exact replica of the switch. The Spud has a very long wheelbase and very low center of gravity making for high speed, and stability. The spuds flush mount trucks are what give it’s low center of gravity, added stability, and snazziness (in my opinion). The spud is also cut in such a way that it’s gives a lower center of gravity as well due to it pushing the trucks further out and keeping the board lower to the ground.
The landyachtz spud is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however this board can’t reach it’s full potential without getting some premium equipment. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9’s or abec 11’s (if you have the money of course) or even abec 11’s. For trucks I suggest getting gullwing chargers, or bombers really any truck without the quadruple bushing (sidewinders). The spud also comes with abec 5 bearings however it’s much better replaced with some bones reds or if you have the money some sector 9 or bones swiss ceramics.
Landyachtz battle ax longboard review
The landyachtz battle ax longboard is perfect for downhill it pretty much fill out any role except for sliding. A cool thing about the battle ax is that it’s cut so there’s virtually no wheelbite. The battle ax also has a pretty average flex and concave making it great for beginners or people who like a generic feeling concave. I recommend the battle ax to any beginners or intermediates, however if you’re extremely good I’m sure there are other decks that can smoke this especially with the right setup.
The landyachtz battle ax is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however this board can’t reach it’s full potential without getting some premium equipment. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9’s or abec 11’s (if you have the money of course) or even abec 11’s or orangatangs . For trucks I suggest getting gullwing chargers, or bombers. The battle ax also comes with abec 5 bearings that would be much better replaced with some bones reds or if you have the money some sector 9 or bones swiss ceramics.
Landyachtz switch longboard
The landyachtz switch longboard is the ultimate board for downhill and cruising. The Landyachtz switch has a special design that with the flush mount trucks gives it such a low center of gravity you will be glued to the ground and your board will have it’s own exhaust. The landyachts switch also has the long wheelbase any board can offer so if you like stability at high speeds, and the ability to accelerate to high speeds faster than this by all means should be your next purchase.
The landyachtz switch is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however this board can’t reach it’s full potential without getting some premium equipment. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9’s or abec 11’s (if you have the money of course) or even abec 11’s (these are my favorite of the bunch). For trucks I suggest getting gullwing chargers, or bombers. The switch also comes with abec 5 bearings that would be much better replaced with some bones reds or if you have the money some sector 9 or bones swiss ceramics.
