The Holidays are Here
The holidays have finally arrived and with them come all the frustrations of holiday gift shopping. From sitting in traffic to fighting crowds and standing in line, the holiday shopping seasons is not something a lot of people look forward to. Luckily, though, online shopping has finally overcome the Shipping & Handling hurdle with rock-bottom shipping costs and ultra-fast delivery times. It’s finally economical and convenient to shop online.
It’s always been my goal to spend as little time out in the holiday shopping mess as possible. That’s why I’ve always turned to the internet for my holiday needs. But this year I noticed the shipping rates are even lower than last year’s. Pair that with the low prices I already find online and it’s more than worth it to shop from the comfort of my home or office. I have an old-school skater buddy who collects skateboards so this year think I’ll wow him with a thoughtful gift from Arbor longboards. Not only will I get a great gift without leaving the house, he’ll feel like he owes me some beers. It’s a win-win.

Loaded Dervish longboard review
The loaded dervish longboard is an excellent longboard for cruising and downhill boarding. The coolest thing about the dervish is that it has interchangeable wheelbases. The dervish also has a flush mount truck which is perfect for downhill due to the lower center of gravity and give better stability at higher speeds. I recommend the dervish to anyone looking for an excellent downhill board.
Now, the dervish doesn’t get it’s speed and stability from just the deck itself, it needs some quality accessories to go with it. If you have racing in mind I definitely recommend going for some gullwing bombers or chargers, however if you want to just cruise around I suggest getting some gullwing sidewinders instead. As for wheels, sector 9 puts out a really good wheel for the price, however if you really want to tear through town or down hills I recommend getting orangatang wheels . The dervish however is just a board and can’t zip through town without a good set of bearings. For bearings I recommend getting either reds, rushs, or greaseballs, but if you want a better quality for a little more money I suggest bones swiss or sector 9 ceramics.
Arbor Koa Blunt Longboard
The Arbor Koa blunt longboard is a perfect all-around board it can cruise, do hills, and tear up the parks like no tomorrow. One great thing about the arbor koa blunt is that it’s extremely easy to ride because it’s so wide and is perfect for people who like do to longboard tricks such as manuals and board walking because of the kicktail/nose. Another reason the arbor koa is so great is because of the long wheelbase which makes for really wide smooth turns, much like surfing. I recommend the arbor koa blunt to anyone looking for an awesome arbor longboard.
The blunt comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I recommend getting some of our premium trucks and wheels. I recommend getting some sidewinders if you plan on carving and cruising but if you plan on doing downhill at all I suggest getting some chargers/bombers. Also You’ll need a good set of bearings if you plan on doing bigger hills or want to get around faster the abec 5 bearings it comes with will suffice but I would suggest bones reds bearings because they’re the best for the price, or I would suggest sector nine ceramics if you really want to fly across the concrete if you can afford them.
Arbor Bamboo Axis Longboard Review
The arbor bamboo axis is the newest shaped longboard from arbor. It is a drop through model that allows high speed with lots of stability. It is great for carving, down-hill riding, and lots of speed. It was designed symmetrically allowing you to ride the board forward or backwards with the same feel. It has a medium flex to the deck which allows you to carve nice and smoothly.
When setting up the bamboo axis put some 10″ gullwing charger trucks on it for added stability and it also allows the trucks to stick out just enough to put a nice 75mm orangatang durian wheel on the board in the purple duro which is perfect for all types of riding. I would set it up with a bones swiss bearing for ultimate speed and longevity.
Arbor Koa Axis Longboard Review
The arbor koa axis is one of the newest shapes in the arbor family. It is a drop through model that was built with speed and stability in mind. It is great for carving, down-hill riding, and lots of speed. It has a symmetrical shape allowing you to ride the board either way with no difference at all. The shape of the board was inspired by arbors roots, SNOWBOARDING. It has a medium flex to it which allows you to carve nice a smooth without too much bounce and just enough flex.
When setting up the koa axis put some 10″ gullwing charger trucks on it for added stability and it also allows the trucks to stick out just enough to put a nice 75mm orangatang durian wheel on the board in the purple duro which is perfect for all types of riding. I would set it up with a bones swiss bearing for ultimate speed and longevity.
Arbor Koa Hybrid Longboard
The koa hybrid is a great board for cruising the streets and mashing around town. It sports a nice nose and kicktail that allow you to olly, manual, or do just about any type of trick that you can on a regular skateboard. The koa hybrid sports a top layer of hawaiian koa wood on top of canadian maple pressed together to make a unique and beautiful looking board. They call it a hybrid because it is just that; longboard and skateboard all in one. This board can keep up with just about any longboard cruising down the street but can also be taken into the skate parks to carve the bowls.
Recommended set up for this board varies depending on what you are wanting to do with the board. But my recommendations that will allow you to do a little over everything would be to set it up with 10″ gullwing charger trucks for a nice wide base. For the wheels put some orangatang fat free 65mm yellow wheels that will allow for a nice smooth ride but also grip the walls in the skate park just enough. For bearings set it up with some bones reds for a smooth glide that will last a while at a nice low price.
Just Bamboo It
Although bamboo has been utilized by Asian cultures for centuries, it’s just beginning to recognize global ubiquity. The chow mien you order every Friday from your favorite Chinese restaurant probably contains some stir-fried bamboo shoots. Or that new shiny hardwood floor in your neighbor’s house? That could be bamboo. Just the other day I was shopping around online and found bamboo longboards.
Many animals around the world, including humans, use bamboo. The giant panda and the red panda depend on bamboo for their survival. Bamboo isn’t very nutritious, so both the giant and the red panda have to eat more than 4,500 kg of bamboo each year. Throughout history, bamboo has remained one of the most used plants in the world. The fiber in a bamboo stem is so strong that bamboo can be used to construct bridges and buildings.
